“Very Quiet, Not So Quiet“ was recorded in Hamburg in May 2024 and brings together some of Petratos’ favourite artists, such as British clarinetist Samantha Wright, guitarist Paul Linardatos and Robert Lucaciu on double bass.

The Songs relate to very substantial and graspable things on earth as well as otherworldly phenomena and creatures from different mythologies.

With “Very Quiet, Not So Quiet“, Hamburg-based drummer, improviser and composer Alex Petratos presents his debut album, merging his influences from jazz, folk and improvised music.

The album features Petratos’ melodic & intricate original compositions, as well as free improvised parts.

“To me, this band stretches music in a way I like. I wrote sketches of melodies or full songs, and the musicians took them and made them their own. In some tunes there are no bars or meters, but the melodies usually speak for themselves.”
